Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements
Are you a business with new hires, casual, or part-time employees? If so, you may be eligible for Boosting Apprenticeship Commencement wage subsidy worth up to $28,000 per employee. This is an opportunity to upskill your employees with qualifications in key areas like leadership and management, human resources, marketing and communications, and project management.
The Boosting Apprenticeship Commencement wage subsidy supports business and Group Training Organisations to take on new apprentices and trainees, to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support sustained economic recovery. Through the subsidy, any business or Group Training Organisation that engages an Australian Apprentice between 5 October 2020 and 31 March 2022 may be eligible for a subsidy of 50 per cent of wages paid to a new or recommencing apprentice or trainee for a 12-month period from the date of commencement to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter.

Is Existing Worker Eligible?
Existing workers might be able to attract the Boosting Apprenticeship Commencement 50% wage subsidy for employers if:
- They commence a trade based Australian Apprenticeship (Appendix E Trades-based Australia Apprenticeships list)
- Transfer from casual employment to a part-time or full-time Australian Apprenticeship
- Transfer from part-time employment to a full-time Australian Apprenticeship
Please note existing worker sign-ups will be capped at 30 sign-ups per business per ABN.
