What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ?
Recognition of Prior Learning, or RPL, is an assessment process that uses your already existing skills, knowledge and experience to achieve a formal qualification or units of competency in place of study. RPL is a method of assessment that makes formal qualifications more accessible to people already in the workforce, building their careers.
Your skills will be assessed against industry standards. This is done by our RPL assessor. You may be asked to:
- perform tasks or jobs
- talk about and explain how you do those jobs
- provide samples of your work
A visit to your workplace may be organised so you can demonstrate your abilities. You may have to provide job descriptions, references or performance appraisals. Our dedicated assessor will consider your skills and knowledge and match them against a suitable qualification. You will need to provide the required evidence along with the application form to be eligible for RPL. Complete the RPL Quick Assessment form to know if you're qualified!
RPL Process
Phase 1: RPL Application
Applicants will have to complete the RPL application and submit the required documents that are relevant to their previous experience
Phase 2: Provisional Review
A final review of all evidence gathered will be conducted. Gap training might be required if an applicant has a knowledge/skill gap against the whole qualification
Phase 3: Qualification Issued
Barrington College Australia will issue the qualification to the applicant upon completion after gap training (if required) is conducted
